Great article and would most likely deter most people from making impulse decisions, which can't be a bad thing considering. I saw a commercial to "adopt" a tiger. I like the idea of it. I send "adoption" money to sponsor the tiger and it is taken care of in a natural habitat.
I get cards, pictures and a little stuffed tiger. That is my idea of adopting a tiger. They do such a wonderful job, and I grow attached to each Big Cat as they introduce them. Cheetah don't often end up in private hands because they are so inbred and do so poorly in captivity that they rarely live long enough to be dumped into the pet trade. Because people only look at the cute side to them they are not fully aware of the consequences and responsibilities for having these kind of animals. My opinion is that if anyone should be in possession of any type of big cat it should be someone who is a professional at comprehending their behavior like a naturalist or vet.
