Does anyone use auto trader anymore

Privacy shield gives me an anonymous email address so people don't email me directly. Craigslist does this for free. Not only was my ad not on the front page, it was not advertised at all! Surely they'd have record of my payment on their database.

I still have the magazine on which they promised my car would be on the front page so I thought they could redeem themselves now. Their local phone number is disconnected. After reading all the bad reviews I don't think it is even worth my time to contact anyone associated with them. I feel bad for all of us that we're duped by this auto trader. They are no better than online and phone scammers. We all should spread the word and warn anyone even considering selling their car to avoid them.

Lesson learned. I listed to sell my car on March 25th, and it took like days for my ad to go live. I had purchased the deluxe ad with money back guarantee. I did not get even a single email on my car for what is claimed as an awesome site.

Now after 90 days I called on July 10th to check on my day money back and was told to wait till the end of the month. I waited and then sent an email on 13th and finally got a response to apply for refund. Today noticed ad edit confirmation emails 2 or 3 times and in the email it was mentioned contact customer service if edits are not done by you. When I called and spoke with the rep she said I did not do any changes but internally changes are made. When asked for the refund she said she cannot guarantee me because I am unable to meet the timeliness they specified.

When I repeatedly asked she said there is nothing they can do for me and was rude to cut the phone line. Moreover they do everything online and just for refund they want you to mail a form to their address, so they can tell the customer you are above the window time frame or some other nonsense that the mail never received. I am filing against these guys in BBB and also other places since they never mentioned about the time frame when you purchase the package.

All they say is money back guarantee. This is one of the worst and never go for this site nor recommend to anybody. I would not pay for any of AutoTrader's services; it is a ripoff if they say you can get your money back if it does not sell. They are lying. You have to meet so many terms and conditions. This is the worst online company I have ever dealt with. Do not sign up for AutoTrader's service to see how much your car is worth and to give you a quote.

I have received dozens of phone calls to my cell phone with pre-recorded greetings and messages. It is too much! I hate AutoTrader! I have taken my ad off of AutoTrader weeks ago and I am still getting them. I will not ever use them again. Money down the drain.

Both of my last cars were bought off of Craigslist within 10 days of posting my ads all at my price less a few hundred bucks. Both were great cars, a Navigator and a Prius. No calls, nothing from AT, not one. Stupid of me to try them twice after the first one bombed out too.

Stay away from AT! Auto Trader proudly displays the fact that if your vehicle does not sell in 90 days, you are entitled to a refund if the proper form is submitted and all terms have been met. What they do not display is the fact that the request for refund must be postdated days after the ad was begun. That gives a day window only to be refunded.

This information needs to be displayed in the same way that the "guarantee" that the car will sell or your purchase will be refunded! Two bald tires, blown rear exhaust box but worst of all, fuel pump tampering.

The electrics leading to the pump had been altered recently and both fuel pump and in-line fuel filter next to the fuel tank had impact damage as if they were hit by an object. To try to sell a vehicle in an unroadworthy state, this company should come under your review as they are in my opinion, chancers. They were given several chances to resolve the problem, but after less than 3 hours of purchasing the car, they refused to take phone calls from mobiles, landlines or a local public phone box in their area, but sold the car as roadworthy and mechanically sound?

Return to this vehicle quickly by searching with its AutoTrader. The dealer confirmed the price and availability by phone on Wednesday, April 18th but refused to sell the truck for the advertised price on Thursday, April 19th. The dealer did not remove the ad on Autotrader. I went to look at the car and because I was in desperate need of a car, I decided to buy the car. There was a female sales person that I spoke with. I asked her what type of payment they take.

I really need a car to get back and forth to work so I decided to buy it. The sales person told me that I would get my title in the mail in two weeks. I drove the car home and I started to have problems with the car, so I called the dealership. When I did get in contact with the lady that sold me the car, she told me to bring in the car. I came in to have the car check out. When I was there, I asked her have they cashed my check.

I had checked my bank account and the check had not been deposited. She told me no, I told her that I would like to get my checks back and pay for the car with my credit card.

She went and spoke with the owner and she told me that would be no problem. She told me that the guy that does the account was out for lunch and that she has him pull the checks and send them to me in the mail along with the title. I found out from my bank statement that the check was cashed.

The second check was ran three different times and cashed over two months later. I contacted the owner of the dealership and spoke with him in person and over the phone. He refuses to give me my money back. To this day, I never received the title for the car. The car does not run. The motor has gone out on the vehicle. I was charged twice for a lemon.

I never received my money back to this day. The owner of the dealership runs an unethical business where he scams people out of their hard earned money. I place a worry-free ad and figured my car would either sell or I get a refund. The car did not sell, even after pricing it way below blue book value. Their terms and conditions have changed since I placed my ad and refuse to honor the original terms. Now, they say the ad must run 90 days and if you want a refund, you must send written verification days after the ad has run in order to receive a refund.

That was not true when I placed my ad. If your car does not sell, you will receive a refund. It didn't matter how long the ad was running. Live chat is worthless. I spoke with someone named Gwendolyn. She is an absolute basket case. All she could do was quote current terms and conditions and then tell me to call in if I wanted to speak with someone else.

I am going to post my negative experience all over the web including AutoTrader. My car is not for sale anymore. I decided to keep it. The ad will stay posted with my negative experience.

Avoid this online fraud shop. Crooks are also flocking to it, just like eBay. Well, they didn't like that. They wanted their money upfront. I wonder why? Maybe because they didn't have anyone interested in my car? AutoTrader didn't care either.

I immediately took down my phone number so I could filter that spam out. I purchased a 3-week ad. I could not find my ad online, so I questioned them about it. I was told that it was being reviewed which I understand. My issue is that the ad was reviewed and not available online for 48 hours.

The 2 days that my ad was not visible online was subtracted from the 3-week ad that I purchased. You might consider ph classifieds to be a rival to auto trader, and maybe it is for specialist stuff, but for the vast majorty of normal cars and non-petrolhead buyers they outnumber us! I think autotrader is still the default 1st port of call. So yeah, I'd say you'll get more view on autotrader. Finally, my own prejudice makes me think that eBay sales are more likely to be scams than autotader ones.

I've got nothing but gut feel to back that up. Probably stems from years and years of warnings about eBay scams being drummed on about.

Interesting I'll have a look at the wording. I've just taken it as a px myself against my supercharged vx the logic being the Clio would be easier to find a buyer for.

We already have a golf so although I did consider keeping it it's not really practical for us. Efbe 9, posts months. I would also add that different mediums for selling require different style adverts. AT: just list what is has.

PH: people will generally know the facts, so sell the car. Get LOTS of interior pics on there. Donatello 1, posts months. What are others experiences with AT? Room on ebay for a proper write up lots of good pics and no rip off telephone numbers. Apart from that yes AT's website is the pits. Are the ads up to date? Presumably the disappearance of the printed AT is symptomatic of something? Gum tree costs nothing and that's what it's worth ,it's never produced a deal for me.

Even though its free I don't use it ,its just not worth the time to list the adds. So it's a good place if your buying ,rubbish if your selling. Harping back to the great days! Finally you say you've got your pricing right! Could it be you have cars that aren't wanted ,price isn't everything ,cars with high mileage ,wrong colour ,big engines ,expensive to tax and insure are difficult to sell at any price. I recently sold my Passat cc on AT.

Sold and gone in 7 days. Right price for well looked after motor tends to sell. I've sold 4 cars through AT over 9 years without delay. The 5th? I eventually traded it in. AT works for me. Got rid of my twenty-year-old Kia Pride through AT. It went immediately. Hi groaver, The neon is one of the few cars I've never bought ,what were they like to own and drive ,were they reliable?

The only thing I do remember about them was they didn't charge more for an auto gearbox. Chrysler Neon auto The only thing I do remember about them was they didn't charge more for an auto gearbox. Not surprised - it was only 3-speed!! It was a curate's egg. It was reliable during the time my OH ran it. Lots of mechanical noises when idling belts, metal on metal, etc. It was bought cheaply 2nd hand as a stop gap. Never gave any problems but OH was glad to see the back of it.
